It turns out all of those leads I sent out are working out. First, The Beer Detective shows up on New School Beer! Soon after, Abram Goldman-Armstrong—owner of Portland’s new Cider Riot and editor of Northwest Brewing News—followed up on an email I sent him a while back.
So, looks like I’m going to be the new Dry Side columnist, covering everything from Bend to Pendleton.
I think this is going to be an awesome opportunity to really explore what the desert has to offer the beer community. Most people, hell I don’t think it’s out of the question to say everybody, knows about Bend’s beer scene. It’s been featured in the New York Times more than once.
But what about Terminal Gravity out in Enterprise? Or the tiniest juggernaut you’ve ever seen in Barley Brown’s? And that religiously-driven place with the religiously driven name (Prodigal Son Brewing) in Pendleton? These are all untapped markets outside of the giants who make great beer. I think it’s time to show them some love to.
So, pick up a Northwest Brewing News if you get a chance. In there, you’ll see this clown named Branden Andersen who is filling the pages with what he feels are the best stories in the area. Let me know if you agree.
If you don’t, shoot me a line and let me know what’s going on in your town’s beer scene. I’m serious—there are a lot of things that don’t make it through the roar that is the Bend Beer Scene. An email or phone call always will:

I look forward to hearing from you,
